Please consider writing your thoughts and memories of John, for his wife Dr. Patricia Coleman-Burns. How did you know Rev. Burns and how did he touch your life? We would like to add your comments to memory book for Pat and the family to hold onto. It will give them comfort in the days ahead.
Finally, in lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made to First AME Church of Farmington Hills, for continuing the work to which Rev. Burns had committed his life – that of building the “Beloved Community.” As a co-founder of the Truth and Reconciliation Dialogue Series, John helped organize important community gatherings focused on understanding the effects of racism and how we might move toward social justice. Your support will facilitate and continue to expand this initiative in our community.
Checks may be made payable to First AME with a notation “for BCI” (Beloved Community Initiative). Mail donations to First AME Church of Farmington Hills, 29887 W Eleven Mile Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48336.
